Emma Watson, Hollywood Celebs Spotted In Pittsburgh For 'Perks' Movie

PITTSBURGH,None — Production has officially begun on "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" movie in Pittsburgh.

With the arrival of big name Hollywood stars, including Emma Watson, Kate Walsh and Dylan McDermott among others, the paparazzi have also touched down in the 'Burgh and fans have started tweeting and blogging about set locations.

So far, it seems most of the filming is happening in the South Hills, which coincides with the "Perks" book on which the movie is based. Author Steven Chbosky, an Upper St. Clair native, is also the movie's director.

The degree of fan excitement hasn't quite reached the level we saw when Taylor Lautner was in Pittsburgh filming "Abduction" last summer, but it's pretty close.

Fans have reported seeing Watson shopping at J Crew, dining at Bistro 19 and enjoying some down time at La Pomponnee Salon and Spa in Mt. Lebanon. A small group of fans has also started camping out at set locations in Bethel Park and Peters Township.

The movie's publicist confirmed the following cast members to See & Be Seen: Emma Watson ("Harry Potter"), Logan Lerman ("Percy Jackson and The Olympians"), Mae Whitman ("Parenthood"), Ezra Miller ("Californication"), Kate Walsh ("Private Practice"), Dylan McDermott ("The Practice") and Paul Rudd ("Knocked Up," "Anchorman"). Actress Nina Dobrev ("The Vampire Diaries") was also spotted on the set. The very high-profile John Malkovich was also seen in the area, as was actor Johnny Simmons ("Jennifer's Body"). Malkovich is said to be the film's executive producer.

Lerman's character is "Charlie," a "boy whose life dramatically changes as he learns about secrets buried deep in his past during his freshman year of high school." McDermott and Walsh will play his parents and Watson will play Charlie's love interest, "Sam."

It's not just the fans who are excited about this film. Some of the actresses have been tweeting while in town. On Monday, Walsh wrote, "Just finished a delicious day of shooting w/awesome Pittsburgh peeps."

"Filming Perks is incredible, everyone is amazing, and I'm 5'1!" Whitman wrote.

It seems like they've had some time to enjoy our city, too.

"Andy Warhol museum... Pretty amazing. What an interesting man," Dobrev tweeted on Monday.

If you spot any of the "Perks" cast members around town, send your photos to webstaff@wpxi.com and we'll add them to our slideshow.

"Perks" is one of three movies currently slated to film in Pittsburgh this summer. "Still I Rise" and "The Dark Knight Rises" are both in production, but so far, Batman has not been spotted in the Steel City.
