Ex-Plum teacher accused of witness intimidation relieved by not guilty verdict

PITTSBURGH — A suspended teacher accused of intimidating a female student who accused another teacher of having sex with her was found not guilty.

There were tears of relief from Drew Zoldak and his wife moments after the verdict was read.

“I’m glad this is finally over,” said Zoldak. “I’m looking forward to moving on with my family.”

Zoldak, 41, was accused of pointing out the Plum High School girl in class last year and telling students she was the reason he was questioned by the Allegheny County district attorney's office.

It took jurors just over an hour to reach the verdict.

“I’m actually glad they found justice and truth in the story,” Zoldak said. “I’m very glad.”

In court, Zoldak acknowledged making a remark about being interviewed by "two men in suits" but denied gesturing toward the girl or trying to intimidate her. Some students have defended the teacher, while others seconded her account.

Zoldak is suspended from his job. He said he will fight to be reinstated.
