Family upset by fake fundraising pages for Wilkinsburg shooting victims

Someone appears to be taking advantage of people who want to help the family of the Wilkinsburg shooting victims.

At one point, there were at least six Go Fund Me pages, promising to raise money for the loved ones of the five adults who were killed last week.

The family told Channel 11 News that nearly all of them were bogus and they have a message for anyone looking to try to raise the money for themselves.

“Think about the 11 kids that need this help dearly,” Jessica Shelton said.

The family has set up an official Go Fund Me page to help raise money for funeral costs.

“It has the black and white photos and says clearly that it's the official Shelton-Powell memorial fund," Shelton said.

The bogus accounts were flagged and removed with the message “campaign suspended”.

Donations can also be made to the Shelton-Powell Memorial Fund at any Citizens Bank branch.

A fund has also been set-up for Shada Mahone's 5-year-old daughter.

Donations can be made to the Shada Mahone Memorial Fund at any PNC Bank branch.

A viewing Tina Shelton will be held Friday evening at the Spriggs-Watson funeral home in Homewood.

The funeral service will be held tomorrow.
