REDSTONE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A fire that left over a dozen people homeless and injured several firefighters in Redstone Township was “intentionally set,” officials said.
The fire broke out at an apartment building on Main Street, spreading from the first floor to the fourth floor.
Six firefighters were hurt, three of whom were taken to the hospital. Officials said two of the three firefighters who were hospitalized were suffering from heat exhaustion, and the third from smoke inhalation.
Channel 11 News was told 14 people were displaced by the fire, which also resulted in smoke and water damage to a neighboring building that houses the Redstone Township Sewer Authority and the tax collector’s office.
"I'm homeless. That's what I'm worried about," said Dennis Holtz, who was displaced by the fire.
The Red Cross is assisting more than a dozen people displaced by the fire.
"They gave me $480 for me and my daughter yesterday, and that's pretty much gone. The hotel was like $100 and clothes for me and her and food," said Tina Welch, who lost all her possessions to the fire.
