Man charged with arson in fire at Armstrong County Walmart

EAST FRANKLIN, Pa. — A man was arrested in connection with a fire at a Walmart in Armstrong County that investigators called suspicious, police said Tuesday.

Firefighters in East Franklin said they believe someone intentionally set a rack of clothes on fire in the men’s department Sunday night.

Employees put out the fire with fire extinguishers before the fire department arrived, but smoke filled the store.

One employee was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation.

Tanner Stroupe, 21, of Kittanning, is charged with four counts of arson, one count of theft by unlawful taking, three counts of criminal mischief, recklessly endangering another person and risking a catastrophe.
