Home invasion suspects confronted by residents, arrested inside Liberty Tunnels

PITTSBURGH — Several people were being questioned early Friday morning following a home invasion in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood.

Police were called to Rockland Avenue shortly after midnight.

Investigators said a 20-year-old man, a 63-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy were sleeping when they heard noises coming from downstairs.

The 20-year-old man was confronted by a 17-year-old girl with a knife and a 17-year-old boy with a gun. The victim knocked the gun to the ground and was cut by the girl with the knife.

Police said another suspect with a gun, later identified as 22-year-old Dominique Hill of Knoxville, witnessed the 63-year-old victim calling for help. At that time all of the suspects left the home.

A short time later, police pulled over a car inside the inbound Liberty Tunnels.

The four people inside, which included Hill and three juveniles, were taken to the Zone 6 police station.

Police were searching for two additional suspects.
