47-point buck could be new world record

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. — A hunter in Tennessee is celebrating the hunt of a lifetime.

Stephen Tucker shot the buck with a muzzleloader in Sumner County, Tennessee. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency classified the 47-point antlers as a "non-typical whitetail" with a certified measurement of a little more than 308 inches in length.

The previous state record of 244 inches was set in 2000.

If other scorers confirm the measurements, Tucker's kill would shatter the state record and could also beat the current 307 5/8 inches world record buck from Iowa.

Final determination is likely to come in January, after the antlers have dried out.
