Truck fire closes southbound lane of I-79 near Sewickley exit

SEWICKLEY, Pa. — One southbound lane of Interstate 79 between the Emsworth/Sewickley (Exit 66) and Mt. Nebo Road (Exit 68) interchanges was closed Wednesday afternoon due to a truck fire.

A Pennsylvania Department of Transportation official said motorists should expect delays and may want to consider alternate routes. Traffic was still backed up in the area as of 6 p.m.

Nearly seven hours after the truck fire initially occurred, both lanes reopened, and traffic began moving normally again.
