11 Investigates: Water, sewage continually backs up into Pittsburgh house

A viewer showed us video of water and sewage backing up into a Pittsburgh house.

Shirley Davis says it happens every time it rains outside her Knoxville house.

Her grandchildrens' toys are swept away in storm and sewage water and unfortunately that water flows right into her basement.

Her washer and dryer are now propped up on bricks and a basement wall is damaged beyond repair.

“I am just frustrated,” Davis said. “It’s money that I don’t have here.”

Davis says this has been an ongoing headache for the last year, costing her unnecessary time cleaning up and money with all the damaged property.

“A lot of stuff we have to throw out because of water damage,” Davis said. “How can you keep something that is soaked and has an odor to it?”

Davis says she complained to PWSA and the mayor's office. She told Channel 11 she got minimal help, so she called us.

“My hands are just tied, I don’t know what else to do,” Davis said.

Within 15 minutes of Channel 11 calling the PWSA looking for answers, a worker was on scene inspecting the area.

A spokesman told Channel 11 they are working to determine the cause of the problem so they can fix it.

Davis said she hopes that's soon, before another storm rolls in.

“I am hoping they come here and fix what they say they will fix to stop the water from coming in here. That is all I asked them to do.”
