Airplane makes emergency stop in Pittsburgh after odor reported in cockpit

PITTSBURGH — An American Airlines plane had to make an emergency landing in Pittsburgh Wednesday morning.

The flight was scheduled to go from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to Austin, Texas. The plane then had to divert to Pittsburgh International when reports started coming in about an odor coming from the cockpit, airport authorities say.

There is no word at this time as to what caused the odor. The plane was able to land safely in Pittsburgh around 10 a.m.
