Police and medics said they were dispatched to Armen’s House of Music on Library Road at 12:17 p.m. for a reported stabbing/shooting.
Silvia Armen said her husband, Alfred Armen, came to her rescue when an intruder attacked her with a wooden night stick in the music store she and her husband own.
Police identified the attacker as 31-year-old Andrew Michael Moore of Washington County.
According to Bethel Park Police Chief John Mackey, Moore attacked Alfred Armen first and then went after Silvia Armen. At that point, Alfred Armen took out a firearm and shot and killed Moore.
Chuck DiSalvo, a family friend of the Armens, said the couple told him they did not recognize their attacker.
“Never saw him. Total stranger walked in and looked at the guitars,” said DiSalvo.
Bethel Park police said they are still investigating this case and are working on a motive.
The medical examiner has yet to release an official cause of death for Moore, and Alfred Armen is being treated at a hospital for head injuries.
