Controversy sparks in Treesdale over sex offender

TREESDALE, Pa.,None — The Treesdale community in Pine Township is up in arms after learning about a sex offender living steps away from a local park where children play.

Residents said they had no idea anyone lived in the home, which is vacant and for sale. It turns out Kevin MaGee, a registered sex offender, was staying the home.

MaGee told police his address was along South Lake Drive in Treesdale. He was living there for two weeks until he started his prison sentence after being found guilty of sex crimes against a 12-year-old girl.

Neighbors are begging Pine Township supervisors for a law to protect children. They want restrictions in place to stop registered sex offenders like MaGee from living close to where children play.

Residents want a 750 foot perimeter around schools and playgrounds, banning sex offenders from coming close.  Neighbors hope to hear more about their proposal at the next board meeting on Dec. 5.

MaGee is now in jail, serving his sentence.
