Crash shuts down I-70, kills former Duquesne University basketball star

SOUTH STRABANE, Pa. — A deadly crash that shut down Interstate 70 on Saturday claimed the life of a former Duquesne University basketball star.

The accident happened in the eastbound lanes in South Strabane, according to police.

Police said a car heading west went out of control, crossed the median and slammed into the car driven by Brian Anselmino, 45, of Canonsburg.

According to Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE, Anselmino was a starter on Duquesne's basketball team, graduating from the university in 1990.

Anselmino’s son and one other passenger were taken to a hospital, police said.

Their conditions were not released.
