Police continue investigating shootings in North Braddock, Rankin

NORTH BRADDOCK, Pa. — Police said Wednesday's broad daylight shooting in North Braddock was likely in retaliation for an earlier shooting in Rankin.

Police said Thursday that the shootings likely involved gang members looking for retaliation.

The shooting in North Braddock on Hickory Street injured four young men.  They were shot while sitting on a porch, police said.

Investigators said a vehicle stopped in front of the house and at least one person got out and fired at the victims. Police said they believe there was more than one shooter.

"The actors in this case arrived in a car and may have exited the car and shot at the young men on the porch," said Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman

Officials said none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening and the victims are in stable condition. The victims' names and ages have not been released.

"We believe this is directly related to an earlier shooting in Rankin this morning, probably going to be retaliation," Schurman said.

In that shooting, a person was shot on Patterson Avenue and is currently in stable condition.

Channel 11's Brandon Hudson reported police have questioned several people, but so far, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.

The shootings have left residents in both areas on edge.

"I'm shaken up right now," said Katherine Gee, who lives near the scene in North Braddock. "I heard gunshots, about six of them."
