Argument over money led to fatal Brookline stabbing

PITTSBURGH — A 75-year-old man was fatally stabbed inside his Brookline home by a roommate after an argument over money, police said.

Police made an arrest Saturday in the death of Alan Krupitzer.

Christopher Richardson, 44, was taken into custody and charged with homicide and robbery after Krupitzer was found dead on the floor of the home in the 2300 block of Pioneer Avenue Saturday morning, police said.

Officials said Richardson, a next door neighbor who had been temporarily staying at the home, called police shortly after 11 a.m. and said that he could see his roommate unresponsive on the floor inside the home. He said he was unable to get into the house and called police from a nearby gas station.

Officers forced their way into the house, where they discovered Krupitzer had been stabbed multiple times, police said.

A neighbor reported hearing an argument inside the house, where four men lived, about 8:30 a.m.

According to the criminal complaint, Richardson wanted to borrow money from Krupitzer. When Krupitzer refused, Richardson stabbed him two times in the left hand side of his torso, then twice in the heart.

Richardson searched Krupitzer's pockets, but did not find any money, the complaint stated.

Homicide detectives are investigating.
