Man charged in fatal shooting of man in McKees Rocks to stand trial

McKEES ROCKS, Pa. — A man accused of killing another man in McKees Rocks in August will stand trial, a judge ordered Friday.

Joshua Strayhorn is charged with criminal homicide in the fatal shooting of Michael Nolen on Aug. 4 in the 700 block of Frederick Street.

Police said two witnesses came forward and identified a car that Strayhorn was allegedly driving. A third witness identified Strayhorn as the shooter.

Strayhorn was on house arrests at the time of the shooting, and an ankle monitor showed him being at the scene, according to police.

On Friday, the judge decided that there was enough evidence to send Strayhorn to trial.

Family and friends of Nolen were in the courtroom for the decision, as were several deputies and a K-9 who surrounded Strayhorn while his lawyer and the prosecutor questioned witnesses.

At one point, an officer told Strayhorn that he wasn't allowed to look at witnesses when they were testifying.

One witness who was in court said that he saw Nolen walk out of a house on Frederick Street and get into a car, which drove in the direction of Strayhorn's parked car when gunshots were heard. Nolen was then seen getting out of the car, running and then falling to the ground.

Prosecutors said an autopsy revealed that Nolen died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
