ONLY ON 11: Maurkice Pouncey talks about accusations, domestic violence

PITTSBURGH — Channel 11's Bill Phillips asked Pittsburgh Steelers lineman Maurkice Pouncey the tough questions during an exclusive interview Friday.

Pouncey, who was just cleared of charges connected to a fight at a Florida nightclub, spoke to Phillips about what he learned.

“I found out who was real and who wasn’t,” Pouncey said.

Maurkice and his brother, Mike, had been accused of assault. However, the brothers denied any wrongdoing, and earlier this month, they were cleared.

“I know who stuck behind me and believed my story the whole entire time,” Pouncey said. “Hit a girl? Come on. I have two sisters and a mom. If anything was to even touch them, I know what I would do.”

Pouncey said he was upset with the media coverage of the situation.

“I’m not about to go around beating someone up and yelling homophobic chants. Like, come on, that’s not me,” he said.

Pouncey said he wants to see more attention on positive stories, like what his teammate William Gay is doing for victims of domestic violence.

“That’s huge. He wore the cleats that stood out for domestic violence. I wish I would have known about it before he did it. After realizing he did that, I said to him, ‘Man, that’s huge for you to go out and even if you get fined, you know your money was going to a great cause,’” Pouncey said.
