Gun in school instigates lockdown at Washington High

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Washington High School was locked down on Tuesday afternoon after a student was spotted with a gun, officials told Channel 11's Cara Sapida.

The gun was exposed when the student in question became involved in a scuffle with another student.

The school immediately went on lockdown, and remained that way for more than an hour. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 3:45 p.m.

The Washington chief of police told Channel 11 News that an underage student was taken into custody. However, authorities do not yet know if he'll be charged with anything.

Flying high above the scene, Chopper 11 showed parents arriving at the school en masse to pick up their children.
