Pittsburgh to host US premiere of Tom Cruise's 'Jack Reacher'

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh will host its first movie premiere in decades when Tom Cruise returns to western Pennsylvania next month for a red-carpet showing of "Jack Reacher."

The U.S. premiere will be held Dec. 15 at the SouthSide Works Cinema. The action-thriller was filmed in Pittsburgh early this year and during fall 2011.

Cruise plays the film's title character, an investigator who looks into the case of a military sniper accused of killing five random victims.

Cruise is expected to be joined at the premiere by fellow cast members Robert Duvall and Rosamund Pike.

Also scheduled to attend are director Christopher McQuarrie and author Lee Child. The movie is based on Child's novel "One Shot."

"Jack Reacher" opens nationwide Dec. 21.
