Police: 2 facing charges for golf course fight

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — Two people are facing charges in connection to a golf course fight.

Police said the incident started as an argument over a water hazard Sunday afternoon at Springdale Golf Club in South Union Township.

“We got a call in the clubhouse that somebody got hit in the head with a club.  We didn’t realize it was an altercation,” said owner Joe Gudac.

Troopers aren't identifying the suspects, beyond saying that one is 42 years old and the other 63.

“One of the gentleman that was involved apparently left.  The other gentleman was down on the ground and injured,” said Gudac.

Sunday’s outing was part of the Fayette County Open Championship, a four-day, four-course event featuring dozens of golfers.

Gudac said it’s embarrassing that the incident happened and normally, it’s peaceful and leisurely.
