3 teens arrested in connection with grocery store attack, robbery

McKEESPORT, Pa. — Channel 11's Rick Earle has learned that three teens have been arrested in connection with a brutal attack and robbery at a McKeesport grocery store Friday night.

McKeesport police told Earle that two women and a man wearing masks hid in the Shop ‘n Save until it closed. The trio then pulled a knife on the 66-year-old worker, sprayed a cleaning solution in his eyes and tied his hands and feet.

Just after 3 p.m. Monday, Earle learned three suspects were taken into custody. Their names have not been released.

Earle has learned the suspects -- a 15-year-old male, a 16-year-old female and an 18-year-old female -- will be charged as adults with robbery and assault.

“I didn’t hear anything about that in here,” one shopper said on Monday. “Times are getting bad out here. It’s getting worse and worse.”

The victim had to go to an area hospital and have his eyes flushed out. Officials say he’s doing better.

“That’s terrible. That’s terrible,” another customer said. “I can’t believe people would even have the audacity to do something like that.”
