Police: Man arrested for fleeing officers kicked out cruiser window

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — A 25-year-old New Kensington man is facing several charges after police said he tried to flee from a traffic stop Wednesday in Westmoreland County.

According to police, an officer tried to pull over Roberto Julio Santiago-Cruz for excessively tinted windows on his car at the intersection of North Street and Constitution Boulevard.

As officers attempted to pull Santiago-Cruz over, he began to flee and committed several traffic violations, police said.

Santiago-Cruz eventually stopped on Victoria Avenue and refused to abide by officers’ commands.

He was placed under arrest, and while being held in the back seat of a police cruiser, he kicked out the back window, authorities said.

He faces a preliminary hearing on May 2.
