Police: Teenage robbers beat elderly man with gun

CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. — Police said footprints in the snow led them to three teenagers accused of attacking an elderly Connellsville man at home.

Caesar Gasperi, 79, has staples above his eye and deep cuts on his head.

"I am sore," Gasperi told Channel 11 reporter Joe Holden.

Police said Gasperi was beat with a gun by armed robbers Friday night.

Police aren't identifying the teenagers because they're under 18 years old.

While Gasperi said he tried to fight them off, his daughter, who was home with him at the time, was pleading for him to give up the family's safe.

The safe had $600 in it, Holden reported.

"I feel like incidents like this can be a slap on the wrist, and these kids may do this again," said Gasperi's son, Dan Gasperi.

Dan Gasperi wants the attackers to be charged as adults.

Police said the robbers made off with the $600 and Gasperi's wife's death certificate.
