The Pittsburgh Public Works building on Bausman Street is showing signs exterior signs of wear and tear, but the inside is where problems really start to begin.
Walls are stained from water leaks, which employees say happens every time that it rains or snows.
Inside the shop, there are salt and mineral deposits hanging from the ceiling. Employees say that the building smells and there is mildew.
Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak said that this problem is one that likely cannot be repaired.
“In some cases we may need completely new buildings. I think the Division 4 building is a perfect example of that. I don’t know if there’s any way that building can be rehabbed. It’s going to need a whole new building,” Rudiak said.
According to Guy Costa, chief operations officer, the city is aware that the building is in poor condition and has plans to move employees from the current location.
