WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. - Testimony will continue Monday in the penalty phase for the so-called ringleader of the “Greensburg Six.”
Ricky Smyrnes was convicted of being one of the people involved in torturing a woman for more than two days and then killing her in Greensburg in February 2010.
The woman, Jennifer Daugherty, was stabbed to death inside a Greensburg apartment. Her body was found in the parking lot of Greensburg Salem Middle School.
Smyrnes could face the death penalty for his first-degree murder conviction in Daugherty’s death.
Daugherty’s family testified last week that Smyrnes took advantage of Daugherty’s trusting nature.
