NEW STANTON, Pa. — A tractor-trailer driver died Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident at the New Stanton service plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Authorities said the accident happened just after 2 p.m. at the plaza along the westbound lanes of the turnpike, just east of the New Stanton interchange in Hempfield Township.
For an unknown reason, the vehicle traveled over a curb in the plaza parking lot, through a guiderail and partially down an embankment.
Officials said 43-year-old Arvind Bains was taken to Excela Frick Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said it doesn’t appear weather or road conditions were a factor in the crash.
The cause and manner of death will be pending autopsy results.
