PITTSBURGH — A woman and a firefighter were rushed to the hospital after an early morning fire in East Hills.

Channel 11's Jennifer Tomazic reports the woman was found unconscious inside the kitchen of a home on Rolfe Street just before 3 a.m. Wednesday. She was taken to West Penn Hospital in critical condition.
When crews arrived, flames could be seen shooting from the first and second floors of the home.
The woman, identified by her husband as Carla Bey, was alert and talking after being rescued by firefighters, officials said. Her injuries appear to have been from smoke inhalation.
Gregory Wofford, Bey's husband, said his wife is on a respirator at the hospital and has severe burns to her upper respiratory system. He said he was at work at the time of the fire and that his wife was the only person inside.
Bey was on oxygen, but investigators said there is no indication that oxygen tanks exploded.
A firefighter was also taken to an area hospital.
"There was a firefighter that reported feeling chest pains so they gave him some oxygen and transported him to Mercy Hospital," said Deputy Fire Chief Harry Scherer.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
