Making a statement: 'Trump House' owners booked inauguration trip in July

Talk about making a statement -- and dedication.

A local couple supported then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump so much that they turned their house into a giant campaign sign.

And they were so sure of his win that they booked tickets and hotel rooms in Washington, D.C., months ago so they could be there on Inauguration Day.

News of the Youngstown, Pennsylvania, house went national very quickly. It's now the most photographed house in Westmoreland County and has been featured in Time magazine, the Washington Post and tweeted by Trump.

Leslie Rossi, the homeowner, was an early Trump supporter and wanted to find a way to show off her true colors.

“I was really never political. I never put a sign in my yard before. But Obamacare has really crippled the working class,” Rossi said. “I saw this house as a flag blowing in the wind.”

Not everyone is a fan, and the house and its 14-foot sign in front have taken its share of hits.

“They’ve thrown oranges at it; they’ve thrown pears and apples at it,” Rossi said of vandals.

But she was so confident that Trump would win that she and her husband booked a nonrefundable hotel room last July -- four months before the election.

Now the clock ticks closer and closer to the moment she’s been waiting for, when Trump takes the oath of office.

“I just think it will be a wonderful thing for the people. This inauguration is for Donald Trump, but he’s for the people. He’s our voice. So it’s for us. It’s going to be very special,” Rossi said.

Channel 11 News and WPXI.com will have complete coverage of Trump’s inauguration this Friday.
