Man arrested in sexual assault of boy, 7, in Rochester Township

ROCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man who was being looked into by Homeland Security has been arrested in Rochester Township, Beaver County, for repeatedly physically and sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy, according to police.

Investigators said Randolph Gum, 22, was staying with the family of the young victim. He admitted to committing the crimes, which, according to a criminal complaint, happened over a two-year period, but he did not show up to his sentencing on Wednesday.

Gum, who was the subject of a separate Homeland Security investigation, was found Thursday night holed up in an abandoned garage, police said.

“He is a very dangerous guy, and he's locked up where he belongs,” Rochester Township police Officer Dawn Shane said.

The criminal complaint said that Gum’s computer was seized last week by Homeland Security and sexually explicit videos and photos of Gum and the boy were found.

“It's not only our child, but there are many other children that they found pictures and videos on his computer,” Shane said.

Police believe there could be more victims and ask that anyone with information contact them.
