Meth lab busted in Westmoreland County

Police said a tip from a neighbor led to a methamphetamine lab bust Thursday in Seward.

Officials told Channel 11 News that the suspect was not in the home, but a 26-year-old woman was. She was not able to walk, so she was taken to a hospital. A shivering puppy found inside was given to a neighbor.

A state police forensic team carried buckets of evidence from a trailer on Hoover Street. Inside, police found a "one pot cook method" meth lab.

Neighbors said they're relieved the lab is dismantled.

"It's pretty scary, especially when you have kids, you know, anything could happen. (An) explosion," Mark Leap said. "I have a fuel tank on that side of the house. It could blow my house up, too."

Leap said the suspects "pretty much kept to themselves" and said the man had been in-and-out of jail before.

"There's been complaints for a while about him," Leap said. "A lot of traffic all hours of the night."

Police said an arrest warrant is expected to be issued for the suspect by the end of the day. It was not clear if the woman found inside the trailer will face any charges.
