Mom accused of leaving 4 kids alone when she went to bar said she was ‘stressed out'

Pittsburgh police said an East Liberty woman left her four children alone while she went to a bar.
Officers were called to an apartment on Hays Street shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday after the manager of the building saw the children playing outside without an adult.
The manager told police when nobody answered her knock at the door, she unlocked it and found the children, ages 6, 4, 2 and 1 month, alone in their apartment. The manager told police the apartment was in disarray.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by Channel 11 News, the children’s mother, 31-year-old Rosa Alvarado, arrived at the apartment about 25 minutes after police.
Officers said she was holding a can of beer and was “highly intoxicated and having trouble standing on her own,” according to the criminal complaint.
Alvarado was taken into custody, and the complaint says she told officers, "I am stressed out and I went to the bar drinking."
Alvarado is facing charges of child endangerment and public drunkenness.
The children were placed in protective custody.
