Pittsburgh college student accused of using names of exes, daughter to obtain child porn

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh college students is facing numerous charges after he allegedly was caught searching for pornographic images of young girls, using the Wi-Fi at his school and at his mother’s house, according to a criminal complaint.

Investigators said they found 23-year-old Timothy Britton at Pittsburgh Technical College and took him in for questioning. Britton was later arrested and charged with 20 counts of sexual abuse of children and possession of child pornography.

According to the criminal complaint, Britton admitted to using several apps -- including Dropbox, Kik, Skype and MeetMe -- to post ads and get pictures of young girls and trade them with other people.

Britton was also posing as young girls himself to lure them in, the complaint stated. Police said he used pictures and names of his ex-girlfriends and of his 4-year-old daughter.

Under the profile name Kristina, he claimed he was 13 and posted, "Anyone have any 10-14 year old pics? Message me!" the complaint said.

On another account, he went by Sophie, a 17-year-old girl and posted, "Needing some younger girls to trade with HMU,” according to the complaint.

The complaint said on a third account, Britton posed as a 13-year-old girl named Alayna, writing, "Let's trade, shall we? Youngest possible.”

In the complaint, Britton describes one 13-year-old girl whom he met online. He told police that he drove to her home in North Carolina, but claimed he never did anything because she was "bigger than what he liked."

Channel 11 News reached out to Pittsburgh Technical College on Tuesday night and was told they have a student internet usage policy, but it's not externally available.

When asked about Britton’s arrest, a spokesperson said the school does not talk specifically about student matters.
