PITTSBURGH — Just days after a storm toppled their nest tree, Pittsburgh’s bald eagles are rebuilding.

The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania said Wednesday that the eagles appear to be building a new nest in a tree relatively close to the one that fell in the city’s Hays neighborhood.

The birds started moving sticks into the white sycamore tree three days after losing the nest and their first egg.

It will likely take at least two weeks for the pair to build a new nest, which would be their third nest in five years.

It is unknown whether the female will be able to lay any more eggs this season.

The Hays eagles are the first bald eagles to nest in Pittsburgh in more than 150 years.
