Pittsburgh girl, 13, missing since September found safe in Chicago

PITTSBURGH — A missing 13-year-old girl, who was last seen in September, was found safe Wednesday in Chicago, the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

Police said Jordyn Robinson was last seen on Sept. 4 around 8 p.m. near Tioga Street and Brushton Avenue in Homewood, where an acquaintance dropped her off.

Her mother, Mahogani Robinson, first spoke to Channel 11 News after Jordyn disappeared, pleading for her daughter’s safe return.

“I want Jordyn to know she is loved. If you are watching, your mom is begging you to come home,” Mahogani Robinson said.

Police said in October that they believed Jordyn was danger, saying all attempts to locate her had ended with negative results. Her family also had not had any communication with her, leading the girl's mother to believe her daughter, who has run away in the past, was being held against her will.

“Whomever is holding her against her will, if you are hurting her in any way, shape or fashion, you will be held accountable,” Mahogani Robinson said in October.

Sheriff's deputies said Jordyn’s parents contacted them on Monday about new information that obtained that their daughter was somewhere in Chicago. Authorities in Chicago made contact with the alleged witness but were unable to locate Jordyn on Monday or Tuesday.

Police said Jordyn’s parents traveled to Chicago Wednesday and were put in contact with officers searching for their daughter. Within one hour of their arrival, Jordyn was located by police and reunited with family members.

Authorities said Chicago police interviewed Jordyn and determined that there was no foul play and that she had just run away from home.

Furthermore, police determined several places that Jordyn had been staying since arriving in Chicago and learned that she led the people to believe that she was over 18 years old.
