James, 23, disappeared Jan. 25. He had last been seen in downtown Pittsburgh, and family members joined volunteers to search for him every weekend since he went missing. His body was pulled from the Ohio River on Monday.

Tequila Cowboy management was not pleased with one of their DJ’s online comments about the discovery of James’ body in the river, resulting in his immediate firing. The company also offered to make a contribution to any foundation in James’ name.

“We are aware of the offensive comments made on Facebook from one of our DJs. We do not condone such behavior and these are not the views or beliefs of Tequila Cowboy and any of our other stores. Someone's life was lost, and it is not something to make jokes about. We are very sorry for Dakota James and his family's loss and would love to contribute to any foundation on his behalf.“The DJ that made the comments is no longer employed with our company, and we will make sure something like this never happens again with anyone affiliated with TC Restaurant Group. Dakota James family are in our thoughts and prayers!”
