Police were called Thursday morning to an elementary school in Beaver County for a report of an unruly parent.
District officials said the parent violated the district’s security policy at Aliquippa Elementary School.
Dasha Flannigan said her daughter was pushed so hard, she slid down the hallway.
“She said he threw her so hard she slid and almost hit her head,” Flannigan said.
Witnesses told police George Powell forced his way past security, made threats and shoved children out of the way.
Aliquippa police reviewed surveillance video that showed what happened.
"It displayed that he was yelling and screaming at children, and had run through the school and pushed a few children out of the way,” police Capt. Ryan Pudik said.
According to a criminal complaint, students told police they heard Powell said he was coming back with a gun.
Powell told police that he pushed past several students to get to his daughter because she was going to be attacked, and he was concerned for her safety.
A statement from Superintendent Pete Carbone said that Aliquippa police were called and addressed the situation.
"The Aliquippa School District's first priority is to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all its students. This morning, there was an unruly parent who violated the school district's security policy. The Aliquippa Police Department was notified and addressed the situation," Carbone said in his statement.
ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — Aliquippa police said the parent violated school policy and procedure.
Powell is charged with harassment, terroristic threats and defiant trespass.
