Police commend observant neighbor for arrest of burglar in Lower Burrell

LOWER BURRELL, Pa. — Authorities in Lower Burrell are crediting an observant neighbor with helping them take a burglar into custody Monday.

The Lower Burrell Police Department said a neighbor saw a man, later identified as Peter Dott, 24, of Natrona Heights, whom he didn’t recognize walking down Carl Avenue around 2 p.m. The neighbor continued to watch Dott and immediately called 911 when he saw Dott climb through a window into a home.%

Officers arrived at the scene and caught Dott attempting to exit a side window of the home. Dott climbed back inside the home but quickly gave up and was taken into custody, police said.

“(It) is great that someone was watching and keeping an eye out for neighbors,” resident Theresa Benson told Channel 11 News. “We all kind of look out for each other. Hopefully, it doesn't happen again.”

Dott is charged with burglary and criminal trespass.
