Police say woman found dead in pool in Tarentum did not drown

TARENTUM, Pa. — The medical examiner says a woman found dead in a swimming pool at a house in Tarentum died of blunt force trauma to the neck, not drowning.

Emergency crews were called shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday to East Eighth Avenue, an Allegheny County spokeswoman said. Upon arrival, they pronounced 29-year-old Danielle Meskel dead at the scene. %

Her death has been ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner. Allegheny County Police said they did not suspect foul play.

“I don't understand why, how it happened. I want to know that,” Vickie Labella, a neighbor, said.

Channel 11's Catherine Varnum spoke with neighbors who said Meskel ran out from trees behind the home and jumped into the pool. Varnum was also told that the woman had children.
