Police: Skeletal remains found in McKeesport

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Skeletal remains were found Thursday night in McKeesport after 911 received a call about a reported body, Allegheny County spokeswoman Amie Downs told Channel 11 News.

Downs said a call came into police dispatch at 7:19 p.m. about a body found in the 900 block of Washington Street. Investigators later confirmed that officers found human skeletal remains in a trash can at the scene.

Neighbors said the homeowners were just as shocked as detectives.

"They were taking out their trash, and they opened up the lid and it was a decomposed body,” McKeesport resident Mark Kwiecinski said.

Neighbors told Channel 11 News that the trash can with the remains came from somewhere else and was placed on Washington Street the night before garbage day. They also said detectives towed a car Friday from the same location.

Allegheny County police are investigating. The Medical Examiner’s Office was scheduled to examine the remains on Friday.
