Westmoreland County woman, Trump supporter invited to inaugural ball

A woman from Lower Burrell said she's having trouble believing that she will witness American history Friday at the presidential inauguration.

"It was a big manila envelope. It said I was getting tickets to not only the swearing in, but the ball, the parade, and I cried," said Dana Robinson.

Robinson will have almost front row seats as Donald Trump is sworn in as president of the United States, a reserved seat for the parade and perhaps the hardest ticket to get of all: at ticket to an official inaugural ball.

Robinson's journey with the Trump campaign started on the day Trump came down the escalator at Trump Tower and announced his plans to run for the presidency. Robinson started as a volunteer, then was hired as a field coordinator for the Pennsylvania Republican Party.

"From day one we've been ridiculed, we were criticized. I can't tell you the amount of people that said, "He'll never become president.' And yet here we are," said Robinson.

Robinson has showed her support, in part, with a large sign in her front yard. She said she doesn't plan to move it any time soon.

The campaign turned into a family affair for Robinson. In 2016, her son had the chance to ask Trump a question. He asked him what to name his daughter, saying that he and his wife didn't know what to name her, and he would be honored if Trump offered a suggestion.

Trump suggested Mary after his late mother. And that's what the baby was named, meaning that a single moment from a long campaign will live on in the Robinson family for generations.
