Those in attendance specifically prayed for the victims of the March 22 bombings in Brussels that killed 32 people and the March 27 attack that killed 75 people in Pakistan, many of which were children.

"We condemn these senseless and horrific acts of violence in the strongest possible terms," said Imam Adnan Ahmed.  "Our hearts go out to the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with them as their brothers and sisters in peace. "

Ahmed made it clear that Islam is not synonymous with violence, and said education is the key to combat misconceptions surrounding his religion.
