Sheetz to become first Pa. convenience store chain to sell wine on Tuesday

Sheetz will be the first convenience store chain in Pennsylvania to sell wine, the company announced Monday.

A Sheetz store in Shippensburg will sell the first bottle on Tuesday.

Act 39, also known as the “ABC and Wine Privatization Act,” was passed by state lawmakers in June and went into effect in August.  It expanded wine sales in grocery stores, restaurants and hotels.

Customers will be able to purchase four bottles of wine in any one transaction at a grocery store, restaurant or hotel that holds an expanded permit.

Act 39 also changed regulations on direct wine shipping and all-day liquor licenses for casinos.

Channel 11 has reached out to Sheetz to find out which stores in the Pittsburgh area will sell wine. We will update this story as soon as we hear from the company.
