Surveillance video shows men breaking into Butler home with military style guns

BUTLER, Pa. — Authorities in Butler are looking for three men armed with military style weapons who were caught on surveillance video breaking into a home Saturday.

Butler City police said the break-in occurred Saturday around 9:30 p.m. at a home on Brown Avenue.

Tonight on Channel 11 News at 6, WPXI’s Amy Marcinkiewicz reviews the startling surveillance footage with Butler City police.

Officers said they believe the home invaders were carrying AK-47s or AR 15s. The men were also carrying military style backpacks and covered head-to-toe as they made their way up the home’s stairs and then back down in under a minute.

“It's very scary to have these guys with these type of weapons out on our street,” Butler City Police Department Deputy Chief David Adams said.

Authorities said the women who recently moved into the home were at work when the break-in happened. Police said the men used a crowbar to break through a door to get in.

Officers said the three men appeared to know what they were doing and knew what they were looking for inside the home. Police said the men got way with cash.

Anyone with information about the home invasion or suspected robbers is asked to contact Butler City police.
