BETHEL PARK, Pa. — A Tier 3 sex offender was re-arrested Wednesday on charges that he allegedly was sexting with his 15-year-old neighbor.
Shawn Mooney didn’t have much to say other than, “The truth will come out,” as he was put into the back of a police car.
Police said Mooney was placed under arrest after a Bethel Park High School teacher told a school resource officer about a possible sex assault involving three students.
According to the criminal complaint, police spoke to a 15-year-old victim who told officers that her neighbor, Mooney, tried to kiss her.
She told police he “creeps her out” and he tried to bribe her with gifts, then started touching her, the complaint said.
She said he also sent her a naked picture of himself, and texted her "not to tell" because her mom would get mad, the complaint stated.
A woman answered the door Wednesday night at Mooney’s home.
“I don't know anything about it. I haven't gotten details about anything yet,” the woman, who did not want to be identified, said.
The
lists Mooney as a Tier 3 sex offender, meaning he has to register for life and verify his information four times a year in person.
