SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Pennsylvania State police confirmed a 1-year-old boy died after falling into a pond this morning.
Officials said the pond is in the yard of a residential home along New Castle and Mercer Road in Springfield Township.
Attempts to resuscitate the child were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details were released as of Sunday evening.
