Boil water alert: Water tankers available to affected communities

Pennsylvania America Water issued a boil water advisory for communities in Allegheny and Washington counties Monday afternoon.

The advisory applies to around 100,000 customers and the estimated time frame for the advisory is 48 hours.

Water tankers have been set up at several locations to help provide residents with water.

Following are public water tanker locations:

  • Canonsburg Dam parking lot: McDowell Road, McMurray Pa 5317
  • Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church: 112 W Pike St, Canonsburg, PA 15317
  • Carroll Township Volunteer Fire Department: 988 PA-837, Monongahela, PA 15063
  • Cecil Township: VFW 3324 Route 50, Millers Run Road, Cecil Twp, PA  15321
  • Clairton Volunteer Fire Department: 551 Ravensburg Blvd, Clairton, PA 15025
  • Dravosburg: 226 Maple Ave, Dravosburg, PA 15034

The communities that are under the advisory have high turbidity levels, which means cloudiness in the water, according to Pennsylvania American Water. They said because of the high levels of turbidity, there's an increased chance of disease-causing organisms in the water.
