Amid growing controversy surrounding alleged social media post, the newly appointed executive director of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee has resigned.
In one Facebook post over the summer, Mark Salvas’ wife asked for donations to help Michael Rosfeld, the East Pittsburgh police officer charged with fatally shooting an unarmed teenager during a traffic stop.
In another post, referencing NFL players kneeling to protest police misconduct, there's a picture of Salvas with the words “I stand for the flag. I kneel at the cross.”
“It goes without saying that the platform of the Democratic Party is a zero tolerance for any type of racism,” said Nancy Patton Mills, chairwoman of the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee.
