LOWER BURRELL, Pa. — The Westmoreland County community came out Tuesday night as they continue to offer support to the family and friends of fallen New Kensington police officer Brian Shaw.
Officer Shaw was shot and killed during a traffic stop in November.
On Tuesday, Frazer Township police, along with family and friends, held a benefit dinner at Villa Ballanca for the Shaw family.

Channel 11 spoke to a high school friend of Shaw’s who later became a colleague.
“He was kind of the reason I wanted to be a police officer,” said Patrolman Daniel Rote. “Even though he was a year younger, I saw what he was doing and he inspired me.”
Rahmael holt is charged with shooting and killing Shaw. He is awaiting trial.
