SHARON, Pa. — The prime suspect in the kidnapping and disappearance of a 13-year-old Ohio girl is a convicted Megan's Law offender, police in Ohio and Pennsylvania said.

TRENDING NOW:

John Bove, 46, was arrested in Mercer County in connection with the death of the girl, whom authorities have not yet publicaly identified.

A criminal complaint obtained by Channel 11 says the teen was gone two days before her parents reported her missing.

Police said they found Bove in a stolen car in Sharon. Their investigation led them to an apartment, where they executed a search warrant. Inside, they found a written list, which they believe Bove left behind. The list included to-do tasks such as changing his identity, wearing fake glasses and getting longer hair, police said.

A woman who was in the apartment told police that Bove told her that he killed the girl. The relationship between Bove and the woman was not immediately clear.

Police seized a knife and two blood samples from the driver's seat of the car.

Bove is being held in jail in Mercer County on $1 million bond on charges of vehicle theft and fleeing from police. In Ohio, he is charged with kidnapping. Officials said Bove will be charged with murder when they identify the child.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
