Couples left in the dark after wedding venue closes

WASHINGTON , Pa. — A Washington County wedding venue appears to have closed without telling anyone, leaving couples without a location to get married.

Several couples reached out to Channel 11 saying they can’t reach the owner of The Barn, who allegedly moved out of state.

Shae Musolino and her fiancé Richard have been planning to get married at the venue this September.

TRENDING NOW:

“Nothing, no warning, nothing, no email, no contact,” Musolino said.

According to the barn's Instagram page, the venue hosts large or small events and seats up to 200.

But the Facebook page has been taken down.

Google says the business is permanently closed.

Musolino is one of several brides who contacted Channel 11 when she couldn’t get in touch with the Barn's owner.

“I started to cry. I just booked my DJ and my caterer,” she said.

Channel 11 reached out to "The Barn's" owner Susan Ames, asking if the couples would get a refund.

Ames said the barn is the subject of a heated divorce; she said all 2018 contracts would have been honored, but she alleges the other party isn't interested.

She said she will be issuing refunds to couples with contracts, and she is sorry about the situation.

Musolino said she's grateful our involvement may help them get their money backbut she is still waiting for an apology.

“I'm so sorry she is going through a divorce you have a business to run, you need to be professiona’, not just disappear,” Musolino said.

Musolino booked a new venue, a different barn in Washington County called “The Barn at Ikes Place” in Amity.

The other bride we spoke to today is still searching for a spot for her wedding coming up in May.
